About Us

The International Music Creators and Collaborators Workshop was created and curated by artistic directors Angelica Sanchez and Kris Davis, two artists, leaders, and mothers passionate about collaboration, improvisation, and the relentless pursuit of creative authenticity. By creating the IMCCW, Davis and Sanchez embark on a mission with three distinct yet interwoven purposes:
Firstly, the IMCCW emerges as an affordable opportunity for emerging artists to learn from and connect with world-renowned artists—a privilege often reserved for those with the means for an elite education in the United States. The workshop aspires to break down financial barriers, providing access to high-level creative cohorts as an opportunity for artistic growth and networking.

Secondly, the IMCCW celebrates collaboration and improvisation as catalysts for continuous artistic development and self-actualization. Sanchez and Davis aim to impart the importance of collaboration and improvisation as vehicles for unlocking self-confidence, discovering one’s original artistic voice, and fostering growth through interactions with fellow artists.

Lastly, the IMCCW serves as a beacon to impart values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, a cause championed by Kris Davis at the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Artists are inherent collaborators, and engaging with diverse communities in a creative context provides opportunities for growth and empathy.

The IMCCW is not only an opportunity for musical exploration but also for instilling in the next generation the courage to be bold, take risks, celebrate the ways we are different and the same, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and authenticity. The IMCCW is a transformative experience that fosters collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.
